By way of posting through the forum I thought I should get involved in the main offline SL discussions. This is my first post and I'm not UK or USA so forgive me if the language isn't 100% :) I'm also a newbie (in relative terms) so forgive me my n00bness :)

To kill some downtime here my suggestions for future SL:

- limited Boolean prims (max 2 prims ... functions (boolean group): intersect, trim, weld);
- max 256x256 uploadable bump maps;
- max 256x256 uploadable shine maps;
- two texture input so fading textures (3 modes: linear, circular and square) will be possible;
- texture picker should copy texture-size and -rotation or have that option;
- 100% transparent should be available either as slider maximum or texture

...

Ow I'll think of more :) I hope this isn't the gazillionth time these ideas got posted and that they will be implemented in SL eventually.

Salutations!

what does all this mean in plain English? I have no clue what you are talking about, and maybe I'm the one that is ignorant, because I'm not a computer professional or hard core online gamer and it frustrates me to no end when all this computer language is used.

Maybe if I understood exactly what you are talking about I might be in favor of your ideas.

I got ahold of a 100% transparent texture, "totallyclear" from.. I believe it was The Bazaar. Torley's texture pack, I think.

I'd be in favor of the features mentioned. Especially the custom bump and shine maps.

Boolean is possibly on the cards, King Philip was quite hopefull at the last town hall.....

Bump and Shine maps - hell yes

Layered textures - hell yes

100% trans on the slider - it really should be, using a 100% alpha texture is such a hack

llSetAlpha(1,ALL_SIDES);

Still, also a hack, but no need for a texture.
(I carry a script with that in it around because it was cheaper than uploaded or buying a texture).

llRenderText(string text, integer side, vector color, integer font, integer scale);
