Ability to set Busy message when selecting busy

I propose there should be the ability to set your "Busy" Message when you mark yourself as "Busy".

Here is how I see it working: In the options menu, near the "Busy Mode Response" box there be a checkbox reading something along the lines of "Choose Busy message when entering Busy mode". Then when you select "World -> Set Busy" a dialog box pop's up requesting your busy message. You type this is and press "Save/OK/Done/Apply/Make It So". This message would then be set as your Busy Responce. At the moment you have to go "Edit -> Preferences (or Ctrl-P)" , Select the "IM" tab, Enter the message into the box, Press "OK" then go "World -> Set Busy". Ofcause because this would be a checkbox Opt-in change the current system would still apply. But would just make it easier for those who like to change their busy message instead of just haing a generic away message Which i feel is can be too impersonal, expressly because i've found most of the people here kind and thoughtful.

Now I must say i'm new here. I came here to learn the scripting language and hopefully build, so at the moment I am always in and out of of game as i prefere writng scripts in a different editor (I like my syntax coloured in a certain way) and I feel the current way of changing this message could be improved as i am not always ingame but stay logged in to run a script test.

Anyone else got any views on this?

PS... First Post :)

Feature Proposal - Vote if you feel this should be brought to the attension of the Lindins and consired to be implemented

YES! I want this! It was a while ago that I changed my busy message to something about what was actually going on (I think I ran out to 7-Eleven for dinner) and never changed it back. Weeks later someone IMed me while I was busy for another reason and when I came back and replied they said something about "long time for a trip to 7-Eleven."

In my chat client of choice (Proteus for Mac), when selecting a busy status, you can hold alt/option before letting go, and it will set your status then give you a pop-up to enter the away message.

I would like something like that as well, like in preferences the option could be:

Busy mode behaviour:
o Set busy and leave message
o Set busy and choose message
(Hold alt/option when selecting busy mode to do the opposite of what you choose here)

Or YIM:
Set New Busy Message.
You make one, name it, click "away" and you're away with that message.

If I'm not mistaken, you can do this already, with the existing client.

Go to:

Edit // Preferences // IM

There you can edit your "Busy Mode Response" :)

I think you misunderstood what i am trying to say.
I already know you CAN set your Busy Message...

What i am asking for is an option to change your message WHEN you go into busy mode. to save you having to go into options, find the option, set the option, save the option THEN set busy mode.

Ack! Apparently I didn't read carefully enough - sorry about that David :o

Makes a lot of sense - and sounds like a great request :)

LOL - that will teach me to always make sure i log out of my friends account before trying to post when i'm not on my own machine.
If your wondering what i am on about, I hit reply and forgot that just because i'm signed-in in game i'm not signed-in on the forums....

But yeah, no worries I do it all the time. If you saw this post from my friends name (claire winkoop) you will understand and laugh. I know i did.

thanks for the feedback, now lets try and get the lindens attension and hopefully get it added.
(if a linden reads this: I think it would be a great feature, I hope you do too. Please add it. I know you are busy with everything else, and just let me say you do a wonderful job. I just wished i had such a cool job. I know there has been problems over the past few weeks, but hey every job has its bad times. I'm not going to say FIX THIS, DO THAT OR I'M LEAVING like i've seen others do. i'm just going to say, keep up the good work and think about it)

yours (rather stoned - hense the cock up before) David
