I ussually build together with my partner, who has mod rights granted on my objects, I have mod rights granted on her objects as well.

What's reeeeally annoying tho is that you can't link objects with multiple owners, so to be abled to link she has to either recreate the prims I made or have me take them into inventory and give them to her so she becomes the new owner and then put them back into the postion they were in, this is fine for a few objects, but once you have hundreds of prims and you're both working on different parts of for instance a house it gets very annoying.

I suggest being abled to just take ownership of a selection of prims which you can normally take into inventory (instead of taking them into your inventory and thereby taking ownership as well) just like you can set the group on an object right now. this way you'd be abled to build together with your friends and when it's all done one selects the whole thing takes ownership and links the parts together.

Hope more people share my view on this. If so please let me know here, and by all means share your thoughts about any problems you think might arise by adding this feature.

There are two ways to accomplish this. If you want to take ownership of someone else's prim that you can modify, hold down shift and move it by dragging on one of the axes. The new prim that is left behind is actually owned by you, and you end up moving the old one. Delete that one, and you're all set. Be careful to make sure that all next-owner permissions are set on the object and its contents so that you don't lose perms.

Ownership can also be transferred by setting the object for sale for L$0, "sell original". When you buy the object, ownership is transferred but it doesn't go anywhere.

I understand all this lex, and yeah that is how I'm doing it right now, but it just doesn't make sense, why not just have a feature to take ownership if you can by taking it anyway ?... problem is.. sometimes you forget you copied a bit .. and then ya gotta start looking for the parts you missed and in a 600 prim house .. that is no fun..

You also have to align things again... it's just senseless...I'm not the only one with this problem... I'm actually very surprised nobody else responded to this..

ah well...

You DO HAVE a method. You were just told the method. Its fast. Its simple. It ensures that just having mod-rights doesnt allow you to take EVERYTHING owned by someone, only a copy.

Security is the primary concern here. And with current method both security and usability are great.

Security isn't a concern at all with this, there is already a check to see if you can take something into inventory by using the pie menucommand "Take" (which requires the same exact permissions) the same check could be used to check if you can take ownership. A friend said she'd like to be abled to share ownership.. now that I understand would be a huge problem, security wise as well as work on the database, that is why I came up with this.

I think you're reacting on the title of the post, but I quote from my first post "prims which you can normally take into inventory" I didn't say prims with just mod rights...

But the thing is, the sell-original-for-L$0 is a feature where you can just take ownership. You get ownership of the prim in-world, no taking into inventory required.

You don't have to align things in either of the suggestions I made. Select the prim(s) you want to own, shift-drag them out, and press delete. The ones you're dragging away are owned by your partner, but the ones left behind (in exactly the same spot as the originals) are now owned by you. Quick and easy. We use this all the time in the group I build with.

If you really want joint ownership, form a group and start deeding things to the group. This can have downfalls, though. You'll need to ensure that you specify full next-owner perms on every object and every single inventory item in its contents, otherwise you'll lose control over the object when you deed it.
