Facemask as clothing item

We can easily layers clothes (or other textures, such as an "undershirt" that's actually a tattoo or a piece of jewelry) over every part of our avatars except one: the head. Yes, we can apply a texture to the head portion of the skin; but that in far less convenient (requiring a trip into appearance mode), and cannot be combined with no-modify skins.

So how about adding a clothing layer to the head, a facemask item? It could be used for actual masks, as well as makeup, tribal face-paint, facial tattoos, or small bits of jewelry (nose stud, tongue piercing, etc). And I'm sure there are other applications that haven't occurred to me.

Comments? In particular, how difficult would it be to implement, and what sliders would a facemask clothing item have?

This would be cool. I could imagine it being something like a skintight full faced balaclava, with sliders for eye and mouth openings, perhaps, where they are bound to your avie's face shape?

Maybe similar sort of sliders for tight>loose fit etc that clothing has, and a back>front slider to cut so it can be applied full head or just face, to match with hairlines etc.

Yes these could be done with alphas but I like the idea of being able to a create a mask/headgear item of clothing from the tools as opposed to just another texture layer.

It could even allow for hat rims and tops in various styles with sliders for curls, peaks etc. if you wanna go nuts :)
