I've been looking at the event tab the last few days, and it is ridiculous. There have been a number of options implimented into the game to allow users to advertise to keep the event list from being cluttered with things like "Hair Sale!" where no actual host attends, and its just a link to a shop.
I for one, think something needs to change with this. I know that many many people use SL for a business opportunity, so rather than taking away from them, just so people like me can be happy, I think it would be good to add a seperate sub tab under events. One for sales, and/or special product events, and one for actual social events. This way people could still advertise their special sales events and things of that nature, while keeping a seperate list of social events uncluttered and easy to navigate.
What say you? Ye? Nay?
EDIT: After posting, I noticed that there is already some filter implimentation in the game, however I think something a bit different would help. If I were a new user and I looked at the list as is, I would think there is no social community at all.
So here is an idea to throw out there. What if before posting an event you had 2 buttons front page, and it looked something like this.
"Is this a promotional sales event, or a social event? (Choose an option below)"
"Sales"
"Social"
Then when posting your event you have the sub-categories to post under for your sales and social events. This would be a frontline filter for the events. This way if anyone posts an sales event in the social group, or vise versa, then there should be no arguement on whether it should be removed from listing or not.
From there, all we would need is a in-game check box. Filter sales events, voila. Problem solved.
