Iv run into cases in welcome area in particular where id like to send a user my calling card but theyve already teleported out of the area or not in easy eyeshot of each other.. Id really like to be able to see my own calling card as an inventory item, and be able to drag and drop it to another users profile, perhaps with an Accept/Deny/Ignore dialog on the other end.. similar to a vote... that way i can send it to them offline, or if they arent in the immediate area.
Thanks -Jolt Tank

Reason this is not an option is the same reason you cant offer friendship except in person. People would use it to spam and greif.

Why does every thing always seem to be controlled by the griefers.. If the interface of the software is non-intuitive and isn't evolved due to the fact someone could possibly abuse... in a way, not adding things due to possible misuse is basically letting the griefers get what they want... Though if you wanted to go that route, have features only avalible to paying customers... simple workaround.... I dont think most grifers are stupid enough to PAY to grief.. your letting them ruin the experience for the rest of us..
Im not a builder, or a scripter, and to me the user interaction is something thats in need of improvement.. I end up using YAHOO messenger with SL users because of its shortcomings..
Remind me not to suggest anything possibly useful, only to have it shot down immediately and start a flame thread. The only areas iv really seen change is prims.. Its all about prims...

A wholely agree Jon. I would like options where i could choose if
Options for Incoming Calling Cards * Allow vs Auto Decline in Person * Allow vs Auto Decline via Profile
Options for Teleport Requests * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone * Allow vs Auto Decline from People i Have a Calling Card * Allow vs Auto Decline from People on Friends List
Options for Incoming Landmarks * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone in Person * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone via Profile * Allow vs Auto Decline from People i Have a Calling Card * Allow vs Auto Decline from People on Friends List
Options for Incoming Notecards * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone in Person * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone via Profile * Allow vs Auto Decline from People i Have a Calling Card * Allow vs Auto Decline from People on Friends List
Options for Incoming Objects * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone in Person * Allow vs Auto Decline from Anyone via Profile * Allow vs Auto Decline from People i Have a Calling Card * Allow vs Auto Decline from People on Friends List
In all cases 'allow' should be limited to still presenting the 'accept / decline' options. But these features would prevent basically any greif you could image from random 'drops' allowing a high level of privacy and greif prevention.
Some people will ask that features like 'map tracking' should be done this way too. But i think those are gonna be covered in the upcoming (3 months) group management tools and as those features will need to be managed on a Avatar by Avatar basis it should NOT be lumped in here.

From: Jolt Tank Remind me not to suggest anything possibly useful, only to have it shot down immediately and start a flame thread. Apologies if you thought it was flaming. Was only telling you the reasons mentioned MANY times why the feature wont happen. We dont have the tools to prevent its greif yet. Once those tools are available this would be A GREAT feature along with the others i listed. The whole point of 'Feature Suggestions' is so that we CAN discuss a given ideas benifits and deficits in usability. Think for example the choice to remove verification BEFORE we had the tools to deal with greifers. This started a HUGE outcry in many residents. Removing registration *IS* a nice thing. But we didnt have any manner of dealing with it due to lack of means to check someones 'verified' status, IP based bans and other needed features. Your calling card idea would also be a Good Thing(tm) but just not _Yet_ till we have the required tools to deal with its consequences. Please keep suggesting additional ideas. They are very welcome.

How could dropping a calling card on me spam or grief me any more than dropping a notecard, texture, or object on me? There's ABSOLUTELY no reason that calling cards should be treated any differently from any other inventory item!

I'm not saying they are -More- spam than notecards. Just implying that the decision for notecards was probably based on NCs having more valid uses to be dropable and the usefulness vs spam potential of personal CCs didnt rate as high. I think they should all be configurable options.
