I've compiled a list of some simple, earnest feature requests. I'm definitely not alone in suggesting them -- so please pardon the redundancy -- but this is my own personal list of what I feel I'd really like to see. I'm not a technical maven so I didn't know what to jot down regarding that, but here are some of them: -Instant Messages can be sent to someone's emailbox when he/she is offline from SL. So, why not send Event Notifications too? One may be, say, blogging, and then the email auto-checker reminds one that a fun time in cyberspace is being missed. This is a very obvious feature, and I tend to overlook the obvious, so I'm very pleased! -There should be an option to turn off all the thunk-and-click sounds of the interface when touching buttons, not to mention the earth-grumbling roar of creating prims. It can be fun at first like Kid Pix, but for me, it's no longer needed. So, at the very least, an option. -Better inventory management, like shift-click and selection rectangles to drag-and-drop SCADS of items from one folder into another. I know I'm not alone in this one. It's a pain with, say, 200 Gestures. I've got the rest listed here on my blog: http://www.torley.com/I say thankya, SaiCond* Life ! *yes, deliberate SK reference.

I support all 3 of those, Torley, and these request summary threads are a good idea. As for my own ... In the advanced features category, I have only one request, the General Mousebutton API, aimed at getting SL into the high-speed interactive gaming picture. It's badly needed if SL is to capture the player market, rather than just us creative lot. In the "fix it before I go nuts" category, I have only "Leave my Camera Alone!", but the manufacturers of straightjackets have probably bribed LL not to address that ... I also want O(1) arrays, but Don Linden's already working on those, apparently.

I say thankya, Morgaine... yeah let's see what comes of this... I sometimes wonder if there should be different kinds of mouselook, like in other games. A first-person one as is currently included, and add to that a third-person one that is common in some FPS games, and maybe even a "mirror mode" that shows your face and you walking forward. So on.

I've been blogging more about SL recently so the post has moved down my website... so here is a direct link for your convenience: Making the cake fluffier -- improvements to Second Life http://torley.blog-city.com/read/830569.htm

From: someone Originally posted by Torley Torgeson I sometimes wonder if there should be different kinds of mouselook, like in other games. A first-person one as is currently included, and add to that a third-person one that is common in some FPS games, and maybe even a "mirror mode" that shows your face and you walking forward. So on. Most of the big MMOGs have various camera modes, because different modes suit different occasions and different people like different approaches. SL is very poor in that. But when we scream and shout "Leave my camera alone!" we're not even asking for any *new* camera modes from LL (although that would be nice), but merely that they stop mixing the two existing ones together into the unholy mess that we have at the moment. You can always tell an SL player from the fact that they have only half their hair left ... It's Second Life, with a Second Rate camera.
