I don't know if these are possible or if they have been suggested before, but there are a couple of things I would love to see if at all possible for the Forums interface.
1) I usually browse the forums throughout the day by using the "New Posts" link at the top. I don't do category searches, just New Posts. Right now, this link takes you to a search based on the highest post ID number. It would be nice if this was a static page which had the highest post ID hard coded (via headers or via a hard-coded php lookup). This way, one could click "Refresh" in his/her browser and not have to always click "New Posts". For us Keyboard junkies, that would be very cool.
2) Also, for New Posts, would it be possible to have a "This page rendered at" timestamp at the top or something? Just a way for us New Post trolls to see when we last refreshed.
Just suggestions that shouldn't effect other users. Thoughts? Linden thoughts?

*bump*
A reply from a Linden would be nice, even if it says "Not possible with vBulletin" to which I would reply "Bah, who designed that?"

The software they're using here is a commercial package, vBulletin. So unless the features you (or any one else) want are options that vBulletin supports, or there is a plugin available, or they want to hack at it, it's unlikely it will happen.
For my sites I wrote my own forum software so I'd have that kind of control to change things. But then again that was 7 or 8 years ago and there weren't so many good packages available at the time.
Cheers, Skip
