"Insufficient funds" failed transactions should be logged

We really need a record of transactions that are attempted but fail due to insufficient funds. Many vendors get people trying to claim they won or earned ??? but the machine didn't pay them.

Who knows, maybe they did get a four of a kind and then a royal flush or something. If these failed transactions were recorded, we could look them up and quickly correct any problems, as well as ignore the scammers easier. This would benefit everyone: customers and owners.

Notice this isn't asking the impossible of "log any transaction glitches" (for if the code knew about them, then it could obviously be corrected and wouldn't be a glitch in the first place). This is asking for a very specific and simple feature: a log of transactions that are attempted but fail due to insufficient funds.

Any one else agree? If so I'll add it to the formal suggestions list.

I completely agree. Or, even better yet, a function that can return (via function return or dataserver event) how much money the owner of the object has (which LL has nixed at least twice).
With a function, it'd check your cash, return "not enough" and then IM you "XY Z has just gotten a royal flush and needs L$M, you don't have enough."

Instant feedback.

Yes, that would be great! Too bad they keep nixing it (apparently, the sim servers just can't access the financials on the account info servers... maybe they can't get it working without openning security issues?).

Anyway, while that would be great, even if that feature were ever implemented, it would still be possible to have a transaction get through with insufficient funds. The reason is that the money in an account is not a "thread safe" variable. Many scripts can affect it, so it is possible for it to be deducted between the line that checks if enough money exists and the line that actually deducts the money. It would be rare, but increasingly an issue in high traffic situations.

So yes, I still strongly support requests for a function that can return the owners account balance. But this current proposal would still be a required feature to be able to easily resolve claims of payout failure.
