Maybe I'm simple. Maybe I'm lazy. Maybe I've tried to build one too many things in the dark out of Windows mode, and I'm running out of envelope backs (bring on the junk mail!). But coh...a simple add/subtract/divide/multiply in-game calculator to aid exact prim placement. Wouldn't that just be niftiness on toast? Might encourage some people to actually align their walls, lessening that awful overlap flash that seems to ruin perfectly good builds.

Or would it just lag the sims to hell and back?

Not disagreeing with you, but I run SL in a window and it works great for me. I use the Windows calculator all the time.

Calculator Bracelete

If you take the trolly from the Welcome area to the first stores. There is a place on the left that sells sunglasses, a swinging cat tail, and a calculator bracelet.

It's $1 and works great.

example:

Hmmm I got three 22 prim chairs. Can I fit all 3 chairs in?

/calc 22 * 3

calc bracelet whispers: 66.000

It does not follow order of operations, which can be handy for and annoying.

These suggestions are all great and good and wonderful and whatnot, but what I meant was something slightly different.

An in-game window, see, that had some shortcut key or whatever to bring it up. Ctrl-Shift-C, quick math, and if I rotate for some reason to get an offscreen prim, or if I'm trying to get walls perfectly flush, it's still onscreen so I can easily divide 7.860 by 2, add 3.93 to 239.472, and boom, I'm on my way. It would go transparent like the rest of the SL inactive windows, and minimize if necessary, etc. More as a convenience than anything else; I still maintain that it's a better suggestion than "bigger boobs!". :)

I recognize that there are other calculators out there. Right now I use the calculator in Windows, but if it's late, and I'm out of envelopes, I'm constantly having to switch back and forth to see...hm. This is the number I need, plus half of this one, added to...what was that axis again? Oh blah.

But I guess it's not that big of a deal...ah well. :) Thanks for listenin'!

You think you've seen all of SL?
Plywood. What you didn't know was missing.
