I usually keep my video card anit-aliasing settings to "application controlled", which for SL means none. Well, the other day I followed the suggestion of a friend, which was to set my card for 8X anti-aliasing on everything, and then take a look at SL. All I have to said is OMG! It looked spectacular. Night & day difference.

The thing is, leaving the card set to a specific AA setting all the time isn't practical for every application so I can't just leave it like that, and having to switch it every time I start or stop SL is a real pain. NView allows application-specific profiles, which govern card configuration per application, but AA settings are for some reason not included in those profiles.

I'd really like to see internal AA support within SL. Almost all other video games and 3D applications have this. Why not SL?

I support this, im not sure why you couldnt set aa settings with a profile because i can, but i myself usually have it on application controlled, i created a profile for secondlife.exe i tried 4x which was truly amazing, all the jaggy edges on prims just dissapeared, and as its a graphics card based thing it doesnt hit cpu like most of sl's based graphics options, for me using 4x just provided an amazing quality of image considering how items ingame are mostly jaggy edge prims, then this should definately be added as an option, i also tested 2x which obvioulsy not quite as good, it was very good indeed

Everytime I enable 4xAA I get a crash to desktop after about 5 minutes. Only solution is to remove AA settings and rarely crash now. It was frutrating trying to figure out why I couldn't play for longer then 5-10 minutes without a crash and turning off AA did the trick.

Using a NVidia 6800GT with latest drivers.

For a mild quality upgrade at a minor price ;0 I use 2XAAQ on my Nvidia card ;0 It softens the edges of everything in SL, yet does not impact most other things if I forget to change it.
