Was talking to a group of mentors today and came up with an idea to possibly work around the severe problem with users severely misbehaving on help island.....
Thought of having an extension to the abuse form, perhaps a checkbox when submitted by live help/mentor/greeter, will send a user to a timeout situation when the abuse form is submitted, perhaps teleport them for a period of time, 30-40 minutes to a place similar to a sandbox.. The idea running though our head is an interrogation room with a bright light and a loud ticking clock with their avatar sitting in it... having it on the abuse form will guard the mentor/help from abuse and cover their tail, and it might stop these alts and kids from being severely rude and disruptive to players on HI
Another idea was perhaps that mentors/help etc could mute a user to everyone but help island staff... so they dont disrupt other users on the island..

Just supporting a timeout session. Id rather take some of these greif opportunities as times to explain to OTHER, more behaved residents, about how they can properly use MUTE on their own to deal with these issues.
There need to be limits. Something along the lines of a given mentor can not apply a timeout to the same individual more than once in 24hrs. That the FIRST timeout applied to an individual merely gives them a WARNING. Freeze em for a minute as a dialog comes up that can not be "OK"d till the minute is up. After that if additional Mentors have to 'timeout' a given avatar, that freeze can be extended to 10, then 20 then 30 minutes etc.
Id still much rather 'push limitations' and some other features be done first, but this would be useful too. Very nice idea.

Why telling people to mute is not a full solution

Let me make a scenario that happened currently which i dont think would quite work
We have two new users, and a third user..
Third user is being harassed by said users....
Mentor teleports in, says whats sup...
Mentor is now being trashed by users.... Previous user (who you woulda suggest muted a and b) is still getting what veers on sexual harassment...
Other users see this and start messaging mentor asking what to do and that i should do something....
The mal-behavior is still happening even with the user muted, and the mentor really cant mute the user since he/shee needs it to appear in chat history for an abuse report...
The users are still causing a distraction to the other residents and myself, and the only one who doesnt see any furhur abuse is the victim, when in fact they really need to see it for it to be in their abuse report.

Also see a problem with users intentionally ticking off a mentor, just to get the one second timeout, then that mentor has to call in someone else to add an additional...
I think the warning should start a little higher I also can see griefers relogging in before the 24 hours and intentionally ticking off the same mentor knowing they cant do anything....
Any ideas to work around that.. hence why i suggested it be tied into an abuse report would stop mentors from abusing it, people could do it repeatedly if needed, and since its tied to an abuse report, there is accountability..

One MINUTE not one Second =-)
And Mentor, Greeter and Live Helper volunteers should all get this ability. If they did then anytime there was a bad greifing incident a simple call to livehelp would QUICKLY alert dozens of more Live Helpers of the situation.
In a Live Help IM session all obvserving LHers have a 'teleport' button beside the Profile button that other users dont see in regular IMs. We can use this feature to instantly TP to the location of the person asking a question. Its very useful for a quick means to witness a bug or greif problem.
Keeping the 1 / 24hr limit would prevent any ABUSE by the volunteers. And if situations increase file the abuse reports as many times as the offender does something. Get a paper trail history of behaviour. And notify Live Help. Another person could be there in seconds to witness additional behaviour and apply another timeout. First time it warns. 2nd offense it freezes for 10 minutes. next time its 20 minutes.
During this time they should be FROZEN. No walking. No talking. No teleporting. The bottom of the large "You're being Punished" message could eventell them that if they log out they will not be able to log back online during this time.
Have the victims client internally save the timer so that they cant even log on any other alts. Have any ATTEMPT at logging in another account IMMEDIATELY flag that account as an Alt for all further punishments.
Oh and in the case where the offense is Mature content anyone 'frozen' should not have their attachments or clothes rendered. "Grey Man" them. That way the populous isnt forced to stare at their offending avatar for the duration of the punishment.
