"Sealing" Objects

I've been hearing about a new scam: people are hanging out in stores and re-selling empty boxes at a discount, claiming that the boxes are items from the store. They will even sometimes fill the boxes up with fake items to make them look real.

Here's my suggestion:

Allow us to "seal" objects before selling them. A seal would basically be a certification by SL that an object hasn't been tampered with since it was packaged, and the seal would bear the name of the sealer, the date, and a notice that the object was sealed by the same person that created it (or not). The advantage is that store owners could put up a sign that says "all items should be signed by xxx". And if you buy an item from someone that's not signed by "xxx", then it's not legitimate.

Or else maybe give us a preview option? this would either rez, attach, or wear anything in a box to let us be assured that the items are what someone says they are.

Hmm, while a good idea, the problem is that people probably wouldn't check them anyway? If people are being silly enough to buy from people who are hanging around shadily trying to sell something at a store that is not theirs, then those same people aren't very likely to double-check certificates/seals?
