I'd really like to be able to switch between chatting and IM's with the tab key. It would make things a lot easier!

I endorse this product / feature. If a use has the IM window open, it would be extremely useful to be able to quickly tab back and forth from the chat bar to the already open IM window. If the IM window wasn't open, the tab key would be ignored.

Hitting escape while in an IM goes to CHAT... but another tap of the key and you'll close the chat bar.

add them up and we have

2The 2difference 2between 2me 2and 2you = 0

2(The difference between me and you) = 0

The difference between me and you = 0/2

The difference between me and you = 0

I never thought we were so similar

While tapping escape to get back to the chat bar is handy, a quicker way to get back to the IM window, other than ctrl-t, ctrl-t would be nice as well. Might as well be the tab key, since we can't use tabs in chat or IM anyway.

Excellent idea. TAB to move between chat and an open IM window.

Perhaps ENTER should change from the edit window's input box (or any other window's input box) to the chat/IM inputs. Closing the chat window (ENTER again) could tak you back to the field you were in, too.

Many times I've been editing an object by the numbers when someone asks me a question, and I hit enter (to open my chat window, which I normally leave closed) and start typing, but I'm still stuck in the edit window and get a storm of beeps. I have to click to talk.

No more click-to-talk. "Talking" is a keyboard action, and you should always be able to start talking with you hands on the keyboard only.

Tab already has a function... it aims your camera at the last person who spoke in chat. But not many people use this and it could probably be scrapped without a problem.

Oh wow I didn't know that! I just logged in to see if I could get it to work but couldn't find anyone. Figures :P

It would be nice to have a quick way to go from IM to chat though.

Yeah, a revamped IM interface to avoid so much toggling back and forth would be nice... I'd like that a lot. :)

AHHH HERE'S A TIP!!! *meows all excitedly*
If you have a keyboard with extended keys running along the top (like one of those multimedia or internet ones), you can configure them to open an IM window with the appropriate Ctrl-T (which is an awkward stretch otherwise) shortcut. Way easier to tap.

Same principle applies if you have a mouse with many buttons like side ones -- why not assign them to IM and Inv windows or whatever's useful for you?

Automation saves time and makes you happy! :D

How about simply asking for custom key settings? And while you're at it, let the entire gui be customized like certain software lets you, like Opera, MSVC, Eclipse, etc. Would require a created-from-scratch GUI system probably.

WTF is C3PO supposed to be USEFUL for anyway, besides whining? Stupid piece of scrap metal would be more useful recycled as a toaster. But even that would suck, because who would want to listen to a whining wussy toaster? Is he gold plated? If that's the case he should just be melted down into gold ingots. Help the economy some, and stop being so damn useless you stupid bucket of bolts! R2 is 1,000 times more useful than your tin man ass, and he's shaped like a salt and pepper shaker FFS!
