Seeing as the feature proposal for an LSL function for creating notecards got turned down on legitimate concerns (automatic asset creation is a bad idea), I suggest instead that we get a method (LSL function ?) for scripts to write into existing notecards.
I think this could enable things like live inworld message boards, with a notecards-based or XML-RPC-based backend, for example, and configuration files for complex scripts.

As I understand it, and certainly from my own experiments, whenever you save data to a notecard it's automatically given a new key, because essentially the old one is being destroyed and a new one created with the new data. So you're still creating a new asset, really.
