How about a dynamic list -- updated every 10 minutes or so would be good enough -- of where the busiest places are in SL *right now*?
This would be really handy when you're at a loose end and you're wondering what everyone is up to...

I think that sims are not allowed to have more than forty people onboard at the same time. So the list would consists of dozens, or hundreds of places all 'tied" with forty. doh!

Correct - and many of these places that were 'tied' would actually be one site that is spread out across 2 or more sims - so some places would have double entries. It could be helpful, but as a tool, it would have its flaws. Plus it would lead to further incentives to keep avatars on your land (thus filling agent limits). These incentives (dwell) were what first kick-started the practice of camping chairs...

What if you could search for events based on how many people are at the event at the time? Perhaps that would be more useful if you want to find something to go to for example to meet new people?

How about you just open the map and look for clusters? And you can even have it display events, to see why there's a cluster there. I feel like I'm the only one who knows the map is there sometimes...

Map green dots? bfaaah : P Open the map doesnt do squat as its based how close you zoom before you can see the damn green dots, its so useless now, see all the small islands green dots, cause i sure dont unless i zoom veeeeeeeeeeeeeery close.
Not to mention every time you zoom all over the map to get updated pics/status, watch your ram use explode cause the map can eat from 500-2000mb ram, and it wont let go of it till you restart. They cant even keep a friend list up and running so i dont think they would be able to do this without breaking something else, guess im pessimistic about SL latly ; p

busy is not always good...
look at huchu -- camping casino with 30~40 avatrs idleing, this cause time dilation to drop below .1 alot, server lagg is horrible, and thats if of course you can get into the regoin from it being full alot.
all many residents can do is hope and pray for a reboot or crash because at least then its good to work on for a few hours until it fills back up...
abuse reports have been filed daily by dozens of residents, and the lidens ignore it.
so remeber.... busy is not always good.

But you know the map is quite big, and by the time you zoom out enough to make it manageable the clusters are quite hard to see

Actually, if you zoom out, each green dot represents more and more people. So all the way out and you'd have a green dot for a cluster of 20 people (or more).

Think I'd rather they just add a "Most Pick Listed" tab. Some lots that are utter crap are on the "Most Popular" tab because of camping chairs and pads.
