I hate the way the names are now displayed. You couldn't find our best friend when there are a lot of people around. The name so far above your head also interfers with clicking on things. Ooooppp - got yourself again!!! I liked the names like they were before. Why change something that isn't broken when there is so much that is broken in the game?

From: Sumar Morgan Why change something that isn't broken when there is so much that is broken in the game? The usual answer to this is that not all Lindens do the same things. A developer that's highly experienced at tracking down and fixing crash bugs may not be good with something else, and vice-versa. Or, as in the example of "why did we get streaming video, anyway?", it was an opportunity for a new developer to learn the codebase by adding something that was both useful (well, sort of) and that he had experience with in the past. Unfortunately, when it comes to the changes to the hover names, I really have to agree with you. Honestly, I have no clue what they were thinking. Since 1.6, if I turn hover names' background opacity up, and walk past a crowd, I actually get motion sickness. Now, I SUSPECT the changes may have been initially intended to make it more difficult for users to "hide" their names, but whoever worked on it seems to have become somewhat carried away...
