When we sell an item, the system basically reports to us "You sold an object for $X to So-and-so".

It probably wouldn't take much code-alteration to also tell us:

Where it was sold (Sim/Parcel X/Y/Z)
The name of the object sold
The date and time sold.

This simple change would eliminate the need for so many scripts on SL it would be amazing. No more putting boxes within a box that contains a script... just put the original box on there, set the price, viola! Ready to go.

Would save SO much merchant time. Would save SO much script overhead. Man, this has been needed for so long! Another one of those, "Why hasn't anyone done this yet?"... cause it's SO OBVIOUS a need! :D

Personally, I script my vendors so that they accept money via the 'pay' command, then IM me the details of what was sold.... so what you describe can be done already with script.

It might be nice to have it default, though :)

Yup... but as I said above:

Would save SO much merchant time. Would save SO much script overhead.

Sure, can be scripted. All of mine are scripted too. That's the point... why? If they would add a couple of simple lines to code, they could provide merchants with all the info we need and eliminate the need for a whole lot of single-box scripting.
