hello. i am on basic account so my home location has to be the welcome area. i dont want to buy land and pay every month, but i dont like the welcome area as a home. everytime i go there i get the same notecard over and over. anyway, please consider allowing telehubs places to set home so i can make different regions my home from time to time.

Good Idea. I've always thought that it was the dumbest idea ever to forbid people from setting their home location to wherever they wanted. Thankfully, people who already had their home location set to some other place didnt have it changed, so I can still easily tp into Christopher's lab

Huzzah!
How about a land option where you can say "Allow People to Set Home to Here"?

Great idea Darwin. Considering that people have the ability to ban others from their land, and that you get dwell for people being on your plot, I see no reason why anyone WOULDNT want people to be able to easily tp to their place.

Actualy that would be a FANTASTIC feature!
... which we actualy had at one point and the Lindens deleted it. STOP TAKING AWAY GOOD FEATURES.
You probly both remember this, but I'll reiterate for those who don't...
We use to have a feature "allow anyone to set their home to here" it was a check box in the About Land - Options window, it was great, then anyone could come and set their home to your land.
I have never heard of anyone complaining about this feature or complaining about people setting their home to their land...
so my assumption is that Lindens took away this feature to give people another insentive to buy land. "Buy land and you can have a home other than The Welcome Area."
And I also agree with the original post, being able to set your home to the telehubs would be cool and make sense.
LL please bring back the home feature and allow people to set home to telehubs. Thank you.

I can sorta see why they started to disallow people from setting their home to anywhere. When I was in beta (as Geeky Skidoo) they did allow you to set the home location to anywhere you like. Then, once I left, and came back, it didnt let me.
I think that griefers would set their home to some persons home that has safe off and keep killing them. see?
I ABSOLUTLY agree to allow people to set their home on any linden land except for land auctions. Then everyone will be happy, just like in beta, except without all olf the glitches( which there still are, but not as many.)

If i remember correctly, we still had this feature when i joined in january. ..and i agree, it's an excellent feature that should be re-implemented. there is huge potential (bad and good) for this. sure, some people could hang in the Welcome Area offering newbs a landmark to use as a 'Home' location.. then have that location land them right in the middle of a store. but going the other way, there could be places specifically set up as a home location. with temporary notecards available, or landmarks, nearby on a bulletin board or something. it could be used to bring more traffic to some places.. such as say.. Nova Albion! ..it would bring more traffic to the whole city! so yes, i agree, bring back the ability to allow people to set 'Home' to your land.

Please correct me if I am wrong but can't any member of a group set that group land to their home? This pretty much covers all angles if you think about it. Get close enough to someone that they form a group with you and put say... one square (16 m2) of your land in that group. Then your can set it as your home.
The other way you could do it is to make protected land available for this.
BTW, LL may be doing this just to limit the capabilities of a 1 time pay member making them want to "up" their account. If that is the case I can understand why they might do this.

hmm... I know you can do that.. but would you like to see a sim that has half of its sim 16x16 sq meter plots? *COUGH* Jessie *COUGH* It cause MUCH lag too. There can be an option that allows land owners to set they plot to let anyone set their home to there

Alpha to sovle the above scenario... implement the following...
If "Allow Anyone To Set Home Here" is checked in About Land
Allow anyone to set home there
However...
If Person X == On Ban List
Disallow person to keep that land as their home and revert their Home too Welcome Area.
Seems simple enough to me. Or you could even get a list of everyone who has their home set to your location and add/remove as nessisary.
