I don't dissagree with how the logins are handled, and for the most part I understand that its designed to be usable in an internet cafe type setting, But I think that in some households like mine there are many people who play and depending on where you are at the time you might use different computers for different things
Wouldn't it then be easier for lots of people to be able to select their own user name from a drop-down list so they can log in faster?, I know some people in my household don't even really try to remember their passwords for very long cuz they don't usually have too, so for certain one computer households and in other cases I think it'd be a useful feature to add, if not exactly pertinent.
Thoughts Questions?

This would be nice, considering that I am starting to get other family members in SL, and I have a password that is up to pentagonal standards in length, and it is just random #'s and letters, ill forget it sometime .

Hmm, handy for alts too. On OS X though it does a nice job of keeping individual OS X user's info separate, so I log-out of my comp and someone logs in as a guest, they don't get my sign-in details. I usually find that setting up individual user accounts on a family machine is actually better overall, while a bit annoying to set-up in the first place, it makes things WAY easier in my house.

you can create a seperate shortcut for each player
copy the shortcut and edit the target line (right click properties)
"C:\Program Files\SecondLife\SecondLife.exe" -multiple -login Firsname Lastname Password
do a new shortcut for each avatar and you will never have to remember or enter passwords again

thank you lottery for pointing that out, its very useful. I thought about going just with multiple user accounts per computer, but i hardly ever use any but my own so it wouldn't be worth it, my only concern is if this in some way would make it easier for someone to get ahold of that information. any Lindens watching this thats can comment on the security of this option?
