I suggest that it be possible to assign a different first name to different appearances in the same account. There could be a limit on the number of names allowed. Since SL allows a user to change gender at will, it would be halpful if one could have a first name appropriate to the gender of a particular set of attributes that would show up as the screen name when playing that appearance. The account name wouldn't change; these new first names would be something like aliases. The "profile" option would still show the profile of the original user. Whaddaya think?

In which case, the name chosen would need to be checked agains the list of used User names (logins) and the list of used Alter names (suggested feature). It would be easy to check, as if you can't change your last name, you only need to search a list of ~600 (I think that a last name can only be used around 300 times--this is an estimation based on searching a last name in Find ang getting up through "G" .

I think this problem could be overcome; you could hook the alias database into the main registration database to avoid duplication, and you could limit the number of aliases any member could have at any one time.

Great idea

This sounds like an easier to implement proposal than the various name change proposals that are floating around...which would require all of the ownership rights of an account holder to be changed as well. Is there a voting proposal for it?
