You mean you want to live with bugs until the next release? I find it comforting that the Lindens do fix bugs on occasion, and provide regular updates.
Now, some better suggestions might be... 1. Implement a "patching" system to reduce the download size. 2. Get more people into the test sims to do more extensive testing before release. 3. Provide an always up testing grid, where people can go, and provide feedback on new features, report bugs, etc. _____________________

I propose we get a patching system, and have more updates. I mean a bug like "buffer overflow in the audio system" isn't more than a new dll or maybe an updated newview.exe. 20mb update is silly!

Early on in the release cycle of any new major version, there have been weekly updates, that begin to slow. Big deal, I would rather they keep updating that to leave us riddled with bugs. With software that runs on as many configurations as this one does, the number of show stopping bugs in any release is hardly mentionable. As soon as they find them they correct them, and a lot is found by our input. Suggesting that thay need to slow down on updating is just plain silly. Bring on the updates. _____________________

Aren't we all supposed to be on broadband? Downloading a new install of SL takes me all of two minutes. Not sure why it would be a problem to anyone.

You could hand people free money and they would complain that their wallets are overflowing.

You could hand people free money and they would complain that their wallets are overflowing. Is there a single feature in SL that hasn't gotten some sort of complaint? People will always have diverse opinions, and that's probably a very good thing. But, I agree with most of the replies. When LL identifies and figures out a fix to a problem I want it right now. If it means downloading a new version every day that I log on, I'd prefer that over waiting a week while a permissions bug is exploited or I have extra crashes or IMs aren't being delivered for the sake of it looking like SL is patched less often. |

I think the logic is that as simple as it would be to create an autopatcher, the Lindens just don't consider it a priority. "Uninstall and reinstall" does tend to be the quickest fix for most problems.

yes,
The 30 seconds to download a 20 meg update is just ridiculous, I mean, it gives me time to empty my ashtray, get a glass of tea, take a leak, etc... will the madness never stop??? _____________________

What sort of connection do you have? I've got a 3Mbps connection, and it takes over 60 seconds for me to download the updates. _____________________
