I did a search and couldn't find this suggestion, if I missed it or if there is currently a work-around, please let me know.
I think it would be really helpful to have the option to click through things. That option should be included in the object properties and in the main SL preferences.
That option would allow us to click something that is behind the mini-map, or behind a HUD window. Also for those that often wear wings, you most likely know the trouble it can give while trying to click a vendor machine. I have to either play with the camera everytime, or detach my wings.. and re-attach them later. Clicking through the wings would be really helpful. (my current wings turn invisible when I'm not flying, but they are still there blocking my clicks)

Nice idea - but how do you decide which things clicks should pass through, and which things they shouldn't? Could a script set its object 'click-through', so for example big wings could set themselves to be click-through always? Maybe HUD objects could set themselves click-through for 60s or so when a certain button on them is pressed, to allow you to click things behind them?

Well for the normal items, they could just put it in the object tab, where you see checkboxes for Locked, Physical, Temporary and Phantom. For HUD I would get guess some hotkey.. something easy, because HUDs are pretty useless if we can't click them It's mostly for the normal objects, and windows (like the minimap, chat window.. etc) probably if I was able to run SL at a much higher resolution, those windows wouldn't bother me as much. But with the current lag and loading time, I rather not try to increase my resolution.

My one HUD that I use only gives me problems when it's hidden and I try to use the mouse camera controls. Alt-click on the screen normally recenters the camera. Alt-click on a HUD (visable or not) does *nothing.*
