I do landscaping and I don't know if I'm the only one with this issue, but I would absolutely love it if there was a speed slider or something for terraforming. My latest project is terraforming a volcano and I gotta tell ya it is taking fordamnever with the current snail pace speed of the terraforming we have now.
It would be great if there was a speed slider or something that we could choose from to make this go faster. My suggestions would be: Slow, Normal, Fast, Hella Fast (heh). Even if there was a setting where we could type in how much we want a particular spot raised/lowered would be good too. The way terraforming is now just isn't time friendly.

Zsu! How about the APPLY TO SELECTION button? It terraforms the whole parcel at once!

I'd like to see how quickly "Hella Fast" goes, then--that'd be like one of those timelapse videos where it shows a flower blossoming in the space of a few seconds!
Yeah, I agree... where's your volcano gonna be at?
(Do you find it is any faster to terraform with friends and Edit Land on for a moment?)

Although now it doesn't look too much like the mountain in Close Encounters of The Third kind anymore lol. I also terraformed a cave underground to the back of the sim by our house if you can find the entrance (by the doghouse), the cave area is under the big tree house

Does apply to selection not work with an area selected with the select land tool? If it doesn't I've got to wonder why the select land tool is actually there. Also, it doesn't speed things up a huge amount but, for laziness you could use scripted landscaping tools (I'm assuming they exist, otherwise I've just found an untapped market ). I guess you could work on something else while it's doing it's job too.

... . Yes it does. I find it's by far the easiest neatest way to terraform. I use the manual tool only when I need to make fine adjustments to an edit made using a selection. I'm also looking forward to being able to upload RAW files in 1.9 ! For a hill or volcano, try selecting a small rectangle/square, raise up the selection then select a larger rectangle surrounding the original edit and smooth it. Repeat and rinse.

I found a trick by sad accident and created a volcano in ten minutes.
I had a bunch of scripts on an alt, and like an idiot i stuck them in a box at 200m (uh, yeah, I could've just stuck them in his inventory but...never mind *rolleyes at own stupidity*). Once in the box the scripts all went active, and one of them was 'Flatten Land.' Within minutes my land was crawling around the box at 200m, and the only way to reverse it was about an hour solid of 'smooth' and 'lower.' 'Flatten' had the effect of flattening my land at 200m.
I'm not in-game to see where I got that script from, but IM me and I'll reply when I can look at it. It was a freebie from somewhere.

Here's another little known factlet ... If you are high up above the ground it's infuriating when you can't select a bit of land in the distance. How to do it ... Fly down to the ground, select a single 16m square, and then keep the mouse held down while you fly off on the diagonal in the direction you want to select. The selection will expand as you move your avatar. This is tricky and takes a bit of getting used to but it's a neat trick if you need to select a big area in one go. ( you can use the space bar to slow down your flying speed )

Simple scripts for doing things like that are well easy: default { state_entry() { llSetTimerEvent(0.1); } timer(){ llModifyLand(LAND_LEVEL,LAND_LARGE_BRUSH); } } This one just runs whenever the script is active and will draw the land to wherever the object is. See this page for different options for llModifyLand.
