Not sure how it could be implemented, but I would like to see one or more tools to support allowing merchants to offer a 'try before you buy' function. Perhaps this would be a setting that would allow a zero L$ item or set of items to be rezzed for a limited time span, like 5 minutes, and then they vanish? Such a feature would allow customers to try on clothes, hair, skins and the like, or to get a good look at other merchandise, without the merchant having to create versions with 'DEMO' branded all over the textures. (Making demo labled versions greatly increases a merchant's costs, since we have to import more textures...)
Imagine being able to buy a 'demo house', and being able to take it to a sandbox and rez it long enough to get a really good look...

I know you can do a timer event or temp on rez to delete objects that get rezzed, like a car or house, etc., but it doesn't work for attachments to my knowledge because they don't get rezzed per se. It's also easy to defeat these tactics for those in the know by deleting the script from the object before it has a chance to execute it's llDie() action. Scripters have no way to remove anything from user inventory either because it would open the door wide for abuse, so that's understandable. My idea would be to be able to try demo objects only in the sim where you obtain them and not have it count against the land's prim limits. If you leave the sim, have it derez or vaporize from user inventory. This would need a user permission agreement as well (i.e. llRequestPermissions) so that there is consent that the object will get removed if you leave he sim; wouldn't want people selling stuff that will vaporize without consent.

If you leave the sim, have it derez or vaporize from user inventory. Probably not from inventory, but that's the germ of an idea... How about this: Be able to specify that an object will immediately derez outside of a parcel owned by the creator, or designated by the creator. That would be useful for testing. Think of it like the next step beyond temp-on-rez, create objects that are GUARANTEED not to escape the sandbox. And then be able apply it to anything, including clothing. I still wouldn't want it to touch the Inventory, that's scary, but that wouldn't matter. As soon as you try to use it... it's gone. From: someone This would need a user permission agreement as well (i.e. llRequestPermissions) so that there is consent that the object will get removed if you leave he sim; wouldn't want people selling stuff that will vaporize without consent. You can already sell stuff that will vaporize without consent.
