Well, here goes my first adventure in the suggestion box I appologise if any of these things have been brought up before hand.

I know you can mute residents, you can mute their objects, would'nt it be nice though if you could mute more than just their text?

Someguy running around nakey or in an offensive avatar? Mute them period, have them disapear from your screens, I believe this is a far more reasonable way of dealing with people than shooting etc... don't like what someone is doing, ignore them.. Would also be good if you could mute peoples Physics as well as visablity, so you can ignore them and they and their objects can not affect you, like wise, to be fair, you can not effect them...
what a fantastic way to deal with griefers this would be..... to Totally ignore them..

thats one part of it, the other is advertising... I for one am sick to death of ugly billboards or posters... now I could build large walls to obscure them (but then that leads to issues)... or I could plain mute them, make them invisable to ME!.. JUST ME... its kinda like a personal filter, I don't want to look at it, but by having my own client side feature I'm not stoping anyone else looking at it.

This in my opinion would not interfere with peoples advertising campaigns, as it would still be viewable to everyone else, except those that have chosen to mute the said object, and the truth is the people likely to mute it have done so because it is near their land and interferes with the scenery... also this feature would help with movie makers who don't have to worry about an ugly billboard in shot..

Now the second thing... Roads... erm.. why not simply subcontract the building of them out?

how hard can it be to give people the road building objects and set the lands to build then lock them down once the roads are laid? I think we could have the whole of second life tarmac'd in two weeks if this approach was used.. Just put up a recruitment sign, enlist those residents linden "trust" enough, tada, done.

Ok, so if i'm naive or what not, then fine, but seems like such a simple idea to
me.

love the road idea, would be much nicer if it was all leading somewhere in a fluid way :)

i would suggest getting the word out there on this, it would be a nice thing to see :)

Subcontracting roads and infrastructure

I for one would be happy to assist Linden Labs in road maintenance and land management issues. As In RL I would also propose the subcontractor be required to get a bond for work done and then when the project is completed and verified by a Linden, be paid a set amount as contracted and the bond released. The bond would prevent shoddy work and weed out the money grabbers’ and ensure quality workmanship. LL would of course supply the needed prims as per the contract and bond

This is an amendment, or rather clarification for the ignore feature

who wins. Anyone who does not want to spend their hard earned lindens on buying weapons technology to combat griefers

anyone who has problems with content in mature areas. (don't like it, ignore them)
anyone who likes to behave in mature ways, wear provokative clothing and has questionable tastes (don't like it? Ignore me)

who loses. Griefers and weapons traders. (whose gonna want to buy a sheild or powerful gun when one click of a button can render griefing impossibe)

As for home security...well its simple, you can not ignore an avatar or that avatars items on their home soil, you can ignore it if you are standing outside their land boundries, but not from within. So home security equipment will still work.

This has multiple applications, it could even help reduce lag.. we know that bling and attachements and so on can cause severe lag for people, well if you had to option to ignore those objects totally?.......

I think Its a realistic solution, I would very much like to hear a counter argument if there is not one, then please vote for it.

((also wondering if its possible for a board mod to split this thread :) ))
