"View Content" object context menu option

A lot of objects serve no purpose but as containers. I'd really like to see a context (right-click) menu option for Objects in the inventory window to "View Contents". I am so tired of rezzing objects before I can edit them to view the contents. It's very difficult for me because one of my most edited Objects is invisible (tiniest cube I could make it, with transparency of 90%), so zooming in so I can right-click on it to Edit it is a royal pain in the ... shazbot.

Jon, I must congratulate you. It takes a special kind of person to come into SL and immediately identify every single thing that is wrong with this game. You should become a UI design consultant or something.

I develop user interfaces for Windows users. I LOVE to hear feature suggestions and change requests. I am usually mad at my customers who buy my software because they don't report enough.

So I sincerely appreciate the compliment (even if sarcastic) as I am doing what I would want done to me.

Just know that all these points have been said many, many times. :) I'm an interface designer/programmer too (Mac, Xbox, others) and the only thing I hate more than not enough bug reports is the same ones over and over again. :)

I had 6 bug reports by the same guy yesterday, and all were different aspects of the same "bug"... Which was actually a feature the boss had asked to be added. I marked them all as "fixed" with a note that that's the way it's supposed to be, and they came back failed because he didn't read the comment, just checked to see if the behavior was still there. *sigh*

If there was any sarcasm in Eggy's post (and with him it can be hard to tell;)) it's that you obviously didn't check to see if the change you describe had been discussed here before. And it has.

But if you have a lot of UI suggestions, make them up into one long list and post THAT. People like to add to lists. :)

That is NOT what Eggy said in this case.

Well it was half sincere and half sarcastic. It strikes me as wondrous that someone can get here and in less than a week, can discover all the nasty bits we have complained about for centuries.
It shows that Jon has great analytical skills, though it's a pain that we have to go through this all over again
How's your kid Tiger? :)

To be fair, what a newbie thinks is important because:

- newbies (< 1 week, trial period) are more representative of general public than old people who already decided to stay

- someone who's already decided to stay already likes the game enough to pay for it, so as a Business Target Audience they're not necessarily the target market for new upgrades

If SL stays exactly as it is, the current SL people will most likely stick around for a while, unless something better comes along.

The Target Market for SL upgrades is all the newbies who come through and dont stay for reason X, Y, Z.

Note that many newbies just come through and leave without giving too much feedback; I dont think feedback is such a bad thing; with the exception of Jon's homophobia and stuff, many of his suggestions are fairly to-the-point.

I never said otherwise. In fact, all of his suggestions are things that I also want, and have been wanting for the past year or so.

Could someone please point me to a prior thread for this? I'm at a loss to know what to search for, and I want to see what people have said about this suggestion that's actually RELEVANT to the feature rather than that discusses the behavior of the persion posting ...

Anybody? It'd be nice if the complaints against me here were justified, although that is not my only intent in bumping this again (I really do want to read feedback as this SEEMS like a very important missing feature).

Maybe an alternative approach to this suggestion is rather than a dedicated "View Contents" menu option, the Contents should be listed and editable within the Properties window of the object.
