Right now many second life users have their votes tied up in proposals. For instance try before you buy, because this and other big items continue to be eligible for voting. They continue to dominate. Unless some one comes up with a really great, amazing, brilliant idea, I think people are unlikely to move their votes, and will continue to keep their votes where they are. Witch prevents user from voicing their interest in other areas.

I would like to purpose a 2nd voting system. It would be just like the first system with one minor change. If the top proposal, remains the top proposal, for a cretin amount of time, then that proposal is retired. Giving other idea a chance to recognize. The retired top proposals could be kept in a publicly viewable list in descending order.

There are advantages to retiring proposals. We may gain a deeper understanding of what user are interested in, and an idea where public option will shift when and if the top proposals are completed or retired.

Objection: Sometimes Linden Labs are not ready (yet) to approve an item. In that case it's important for us to keep our support on that item to show it continues to be a priority. Then when LL have a free moment, they see what is at the top, and we get what we voted for.

Retire all the top items and pretty soon there'll be nothing left anyone cares about, and nobody will vote anyway.

I would like to point out that I said a 2nd voting system. With no intent to replace the current voting system. How would it be a bad thing, to have more then one infomration gathering system.
