IDEA! Recycle older servers into "Ocean"

There's been some talk about the different hardware that is powering the different sims, and if some sims are suffering noticeably, and whether extremely low framerate can be attributed to hardware or the builds/scripts that are in the sim.

Regardless, sooner or later some of the older sims will eventually have to be upgraded to new hardware, lest they suffer from "urban blight" as the residents get fed up and simply all leave, and word spreads that the land is usless because it cannot handle the amount of residents/builds that the newer sims have.

When it comes time to switch out some of the older hardware eventually, why not recycle the servers to be used as low-prim areas that help to "pad" Parios and fill in its gaps. I'm thinking bare land-mesh areas or Ocean.

Has this been suggested before? Thoughts?

I endorse this feature and/or service.

Ocean or water sims have been suggested many times. Even the possibility of running more than one water sim (low usage and no build).

Good idea to use old servers, I'm sure they'll have to switch some old ones out soon. Give me ocean!!

I would love to be able to sail to the islands, or dive really deep in a sub. I wonder if this is even possible. If it is, let's see it in 1.6!!

I don't think you could sail to the islands, since I believe they are not on the same grid as the mainland, but wouldn't it be fun to do a race around the mainland(or something like that)!

Great idea or you could have several ocean sims on one high power server.

the only problem is this land will not be supported by the players by linden landtax.

How will the linden's pay for the server's power and usage costs?
