Imagine what you could do with more land area. Not more prims, just 4 times as much land to use your prims on. Tier would count for 4x as many meters in these low density regions but the same number of prims. A low density sim would have hte same prim total. The only thing that would change would be the horizontal area in which to use those prims. EMPHASIS: You're tier would get you the SAME number of prims. and 4x the square meters.I'm also not proposing that existing sims be changed, but that a second sim type be added. to be used along with current sim sizes as the world grows. Abbots Aerodrome with multiple runways that don't end by crossing a sim border. Football, soccer, and baseball stadiums. maybe a few racetracks. Actual parkland and forests for 1/4 the tier. Twice as much distance between you and the eyesore next door. Houses with yards. Fewer sim crossings to mess with your vehicle. More privacy. And I'm sure you can all think of possibilities of your own. As far as technical difficulties go. coordinates from 0.0 - 512.0 shouldn't bust packets sizes LL . sim crossings if they aren't already done via world coordinates would only require minimal modification to the region transfer geometry calculations. check out the proposition here: Feature Proposition 404Please give it a read even if you are skeptical .

Yes, nice idea about abbotts - you going to help with land tier? We have put a lot of effort into acquiring the land in abbotts - I dont really like the idea of competing with people to buy 4x the land, in order to stave off the malls and clubs that so terribly lagged the sim. bbut hey, ymmv.

Hay remember how SimCity had low-density zoning? LOLEX this kinda reminds me of it. I'd like to see at least a go at this.

Chage, read closer. owning an entire low density sim would cost the same tier as owning a standard sim like abbots. tier would count for 4x as many meters. but you would have the SAME number of prims as a standard sim.

I spoke with a few lindens on this topic a while ago; running multiple simulators on one machine is too laggy, and reengineering for larger sims is going to be extremely difficult. Apparently.

Apparently. did they say how it would be difficult? I can see tedious maybe. In anycase, difficult or not I think it's worth doing.

I'm bumping this becuase it needs more exposure and im adding to the notion that reguardless of effort requred it is a worthwhile investment of time
