Allow "Available"/"Not looking" in blank partner fields

These days a blank partner field is like an invitation for people to try and pick you up.
Please allow us to state whether or not we are interested in having a relationship in SL, on what is now a blank field of uncertainty.
It would also be nice if we could set it to "Taken" but not list the person who is involved with us, or "RL Taken" instead of simply "Not looking".

Makes sense to me. I don't want anyone to feel obligated to have a Partner against their will. Along the same lines, for polygamous Partnerships, I could see two or more fields in the future ;)

lmao.

Some more suggestions

"Grumpy fucker"

"Jaded Cynic"

"Miserable Bitch"

"Pfft. I was cybering in Beta"

Jeez, you get hit on that much, eggy? Must be your irresistable charm.

Oh, and I have another suggestion, while we're making them. For people already partnered but don't necessarily want to shout about it.

"None of your fucking business"

As I think Ferran previously requested... it oughta be a list box, not a damned text field!

I don't see why we can't do this ourselves. Inworld. I mean... putting 'anything' in the box.

It could be a simple perms thing as far as a name is concerned - just like getting a calling card, or giving mod perms, something the other partner can revoke at any time. But it also means you could put other stuff in there, just as eggy is suggesting.

I want a 'Mood' box too. With saveable choices I can select by listbox. Like, today I would have "fuck off and leave me alone" as my mood. Hopefully it might have more impact than 'busy', which is an invitation, apparently, to see WHY you're busy.

I don't mind being hit on. I am rather flirty, after all! :D
But I also have a RL girl, and while she is now trying out SL she doesn't want people to know who she is so I sure as hell ain't listing her on my partner field :)

Why has it not been made yet ?

I tried to put "technically available but undesirable" in mine. It didn't take :(

Oddly enough I've yet to had any issues with anyone trying to pick me up.

I like Kris' ideas. User definable would be awsome, its pretty much just a text box you pay 10 bucks then 25 bucks to change right now.

I have to respectfully disagree. I don't wear a sign around my neck in RL stating my current status so why have a tag on your profile in SL. It seems as if some of the suggestions for profile changes (not this one specifically) are getting us to the point that we will have little reason to communicate with one another. Everything we could possibly want to know (blood type?) will be in our profiles.

I endorse this product or feature.

Also, add "desperate" in the choices.

I don't remember reading in the ToS that I had an obligation to communicate with anyone inworld?

I think it'd have to work like the Francis Chung animation, and in order for you to get the other person to accept the kick in the balls, the popup acceptance window would still have to say, "X would like to give you a big hug".

BTW, I think this is a good idea. I do sometimes wonder how much of a deterrant it is having anything listed in the Partner window; I've seen some hook-up attempts tried with clearly "partnered" avatars.

Kris, c'mon. Now you're just nitpicking :-)

I didn't say you were obligated to communicate with anyone! I just PERSONALLY feel that if some of these additonal profile field ideas are enacted it will start cluttering up the profile form. This is one of those suggested additions that I feel would A) be unnecessary for the masses and B) would discourage conversation. If someone would hit on you or ask if you were attached you would be under no obligation to answer them.

Woah, that's a wicked good idea! A few of these around plus some more animations let loose on SL and soon everybody would become nervous when someone claim to want to give them a hug. :p

I fully endorse this product, chaos ! fun ! confusion !

I'd always prefer the lame but sometimes amusing "yes please" in the partner box.
