no.

What if an earthquake knocks out the Co-lo? Suddenly Linden Lab is responsible for thousands of hours of "lost work", and must compensate everyone ever. And then, they collapse due to lack of funding.

As per the second suggestion... not feasible. We already have the most lenient creative environment in any online world; what else do you need?

Having some form of protections for us doesn't necessarily mean they would have to pay out their entire bank in the event of an earthquake ;). For anyone that never bothered to read the EULA in the first place (like me) some other interesting sections are 4.3, 5.3(a), 7.1(c), 8.2, 10&11 -- which i roughly translate to... ALL YOUR BASE ARE BELONG TO US ... muhahhaha. =)

LL run service hosting -- but compensation needn't be expensive.

Linden Labs provides a hosting service for the content which we create. Notionally they should provide a Service Level Agreement for that, with compensation for downtime --- after all, we pay them hard cash for their service availablity.

However, nobody said that compensation has to be an onerous burden --- eg. L$1 for each hour of downtime to each citizen is still compensation, and I don't think it'll bankrupt them. :-)
