Well, if it hasnt been brought up before, It is now ;)

I'd like to see the ability to change the ownership of an object in the edit menu, so that you do not have to physically give the piece to the person - Because this is not useful if the placement of the piece is important.

Case in point the creek/river I have been working on in callisto. I'd like the give the objects I have made (water) to the respective owners, but to do that would mean ripping them out, giving it to them, and then getting them to put them back. Not fun.

Any thoughts on this matter Lifers? ;)

I think you can do this already, by selling the original. (Its an option in the place where you set up selling the object.) Buying an object set to sell in this way leaves the object exactly where it was, but changes the owner of the object from the seller to the buyer.

Actually, I've been told you could simply hand an item to someone by dropping it onto their calling card, regardless of their online status. I haven't tested this out myself, mind you.

You can, but that means picking it up, giving it to them and gaving the new owner re-place it... which isn't the point here.

Christopher is right, sell the original. Just price it at L$1 and reimburse the buyer, if necessary. It will remain in place until the new owner takes it into their inventory or moves it.

yes, but selling is a bad, clumsy option. You can set the group no problem, it wouldnt be hard to have the same set button for the owner?

Believe me, it would be abused!

What if the person doesnt want it? You could build offensive things, place them in obvious places, and just change the owner name and get them in trouble. You could make 100's of prims on your land, rename the owner, then "return" them and flood the new owners inventory. Selling the original is not clumsy, it is simple and effective.

perhaps a mutual agreement dialog a la the calling cards then? if you accept change of ownership site unseen, thats your problem?

No thanks. I dont like surprises. Its simple to sell and buy an original item.

I am not really trying to fight you on this, your just over thinking the process a bit maybe.

It could be a calling card option perhaps, I dont have a problem with it. You can allow those that have your card the ability to edit your items, so if there is that sort of trust, transferring ownership seems reasonable as well. I just dont see that it is a situation that would come up very often, just sell the original and your done.

I've built whole stores...set sell original for $0 and it stays in place when bought. Of course I make sure the new owner buys it immediatle.

I want this! I want to start a custom build construction team that builds to the size of the lot. When the project is finished, I want the client to own the prims. Currently the only way to do this is to set them for sale (inconvienent), or to put it into chunks and give them to the client. But the latter option requires the client to position the prims themselfs. Argh!

Maybe a dialog to get permissions?

Then you'd having people rezzing 1000 objects, and giving them to someone else one at a time, so they'd have 1000 dialog boxes to click "No" on.

The type of situation you're talking about is exactly the reason that sell original leaves the object where it is, instead of putting it in your inventory.

It would be nice, however, if you could set sell original, and specify a specific person/persons/group that's allowed to buy it.

I think this could be solved with a "Sell Only To" option for objects, much like Land has.

Then you could mark the object for sale for original for 0 to (username) they could then come and buy it later without moving it or anything.

So I endorse "Sell To" on objects.
