The edit window has some missing capabilities and/or annoyances that I'd like to address here, and ask others to contribute =) Here's something to get it started: - The position / rotation / scale are not always there.
For example, if you have a linked object, and you want to edit the scale of just one prim, you select "Individual" at the top, but then the text boxes all "grey" out so you can't type in the change. So you have to unlink it from the rest, edit it, then re-link it. Very tedious.
The same goes for when editing attachments. We can't adjust these numbers because they are all greyed out. Understandably, they would have to be relative values for position and rotation when being edited as an attachment.
- The position / rotation / scale are not as precise as the system is capable of.
I can use a script to precisely place an object with 5 decimal places of precision. Why can't I see that full number in the edit panel?
- If an object recieves an update while I'm editing it, the number reverts back, even if the update did not change the number I'm editing.
For example, if the object contains a script that's using llTargetOmega, it's sometimes difficult to edit attributes such as the position / rotation / scale (and perhaps advanced attributes) because the values keep resetting as we're editing the text box...
Please contribute your suggestions or frustrations with the Edit window. Please keep it specific in this thread to just the Edit window and not other parts of the SL user interface.

For example, if you have a linked object, and you want to edit the scale of just one prim, you select "Individual" at the top, but then the text boxes all "grey" out so you can't type in the change. But the weird thing is you can "select individual" then hold shift and use the drag boxes to resize the prim. Select individual should give us full editorial control. If we can select, unlink, edit, relink there's no reason the system couldn't do it for us. How about, since we can stealth tab to the hidden number fields, just make them visible.

I'd like to see a Grid Options button or something, I didn't even know this existed untill it was pointed out to me.
I support everything thats above... I can't think of anything else right now.

Better Building Tools are Badly Needed. Now say it 3 times real fast. I'm surprised LL hasnt made this a priority. Our building tools have remained untouched since, uh, beta. And they are quite buggy.

Actually, I think the building tools are more stable in our current build than they have been for SOME time. AND they have a bunch of nice improvements. Of course... There are always MORE improvements that we residents can think up. Here's one: EDITED to move this to it's own feature request thread...

*BUMP*
I HATE HATE HATE HATE the fact that none of the precisions in the edit window are "precise" enough. I don't want to have to use a script to zero out the extra decimals that I can't otherwise access... it causes a sharp pain to develop just under my tail.
none of the precisions even match... the rotate goes to 2, the cut you can't edit all the decimals they show zeros for, and the position goes to 3 as previously mentioned, and the XYZ display at the top of the screen only goes to 2 when you can edit up to 3.
It would also be nice to be able to have a copy button available rather than having to shift-drag an object. sometimes I WANT to create an object at the exact same center position as the original and because the system doesn't allow me to edit down to the most precise decimals, its hard moving it exactly back (like when working with a split sphere to achieve an egg shape)
THIS SHOULD BE A TOP PRIORITY as it effects EVERYONE who builds in SL, at least with any quality.

The object then moves back to the location of the new object. Personally, I think it's most frustrating thing in the world to not be able to edit an object in-place. Why shouldn't we be able to do this? I can only think of one reason: The Linden programmers got lazy and didn't want to write the code to create a dialog that works with relative rotation/scale/position.

what really pisses me off about this is that it is a no-brainer change that probably requires less than 10 lines of code to impliment. it could be done within 3 hours, by one programmer, and be available this afternoon if they really wanted to make their users happy. I am tired of gap lines in my prims because I can't edit down to 5 decimals... also it would be nice if the fields were wide enough to accomodate said expansions... it's a pain having to move to display extra decimals, or copy them when one is off the field. perhaps put them in a fixed width font, like courier new or even fixedsys.
The only reason things haven't been this way from the start can only be SLOPPY PROGRAMMING or poor communication between team members at LL. Being a programmer myself, I know issues happen like this but there is no reason to let them continue when it is discovered. lets shoot for getting precision at the next update.
and, I know THIS will never be implimented, but I would love to see an ingame calculator with sin, cos, tan, and inverse sin, cos, and tan functions, as well as just regular math functions, so I can just copy/paste calculations. The windows system calculator does not have inverse trig operations, so that isn't an option at all. it would be nice to be able to use numbers from the object that is currently selected
