Had a funny glitch happen yesterday, that led to some serious thought.
I was trying on an HUD-type AO that I had just obtained. The ZHAO version, which I had loaded with all the Abranimations female 2 set of AO animations. While playing with it, I accidentally dropped it, rather than detaching it. Now, I didn't know I had dropped it. All I knew was, it wasn't where it belonged on my screen as an HUD, and it wasn't in my inventory, yet it was still affecting me! I looked around, didn't see it in my inventory or my trash, and even logged off and back on again, yet was still being affected by the AO.
I finally walked across the room, and on the way back caught a small flicker on the floor, and realized the AO was there, sitting on the floor of my bedroom. Picked it up, and problem solved.
But this made me think of a new feature. We need some way to detect the location of objects that we own. Right now, you can use the mini-map to see generally where things are that are yours. They show up as bright aqua. But that is useless if you're in your own home, trying to find something that you dropped, or which slipped under the mattress! (Yes, that is possible.) Or you can drag-selected across an area, with "Select only my objects" checked. But that won't highlight Linden trees and plants that you own.
What I would like to see is something similar to the capability that Estate Managers and Property Owners have now to detect objects on a sim by owner. If I am an owner of a parcel, or an officer in group-owned land, I can click on the land info, and have it list who has objects on the land, and how many objects each. I can select one name in that list, and it will highlight the items on that parcel that are owned by that person. They don't remain selected, but at least it shows me where to look!
This new feature would do that, just for your owned items, on any parcel that you are on. Activate the feature, and the objects owned by you on this parcel become selected, in Edit mode, including Linden plants. You should then be able to shift-click to de-select individual items, or should be able to change the ownership to a group, etc...
As a builder, this would be invaluable for me. I could plant a bunch of trees and shrubs for a customer, highlight them all in one click, and then set them to group owned (by the land owner's group) and deed them to a group.
Or I could simply locate that pesky HUD that I dropped.
Or that invisible 'personal attachment' that only reveals itself when you do a certain chat command...
