From: TigroSpottystripes Katsu I would like to have available two countdowns, one for the currently available lastnames showing for how long they will remain available (or simply just how many are still left and the average speed they are going down) and another showing the upcomming new lastnames, also showing quantatively where they are in the path of becomming avaiable 3 points 1) How can the number of occurance of a last name be limited? The limit is the number of possible first names and that is unlimited. 2) What would be useful is knowing how many last names are still available for any given first name as this is limited to the number of last names (one name I know of that is in short supply is John). 3) Why would knowing the not yet available last names be of any use?

what is the reason last naems are taken down then? what is the "trigger" to have it be removed? From: someone 2) What would be useful is knowing how many last names are still available for any given first name as this is limited to the number of last names (one name I know of that is in short supply is John).
this would allow people to gamble in waiting a new lastname to be made avaiable while knowing it is still safe to pick up an already avaiable the person likes second From: someone 3) Why would knowing the not yet available last names be of any use?
this would allow people to be given the choice to not register now to wait for a better lastname to become avaiable

From: Allan Saltwater 1) How can the number of occurance of a last name be limited? The limit is the number of possible first names and that is unlimited. If I remember correctly, they let about 300 people have the same last name. (Searching for "saltwater" returned 320 results. "Mistral" 240. "Asturias" 445.) Holy carp, "Corleone" has 3945 names! All born within 4 days of each other (~9/15/2006) Still, there is a limit. Thought it was a resonable number (like 300 or 500; I think I saw a Linden post about it), but I may be wrong.
