Just like the title says. I bring this up mainly with light effects in mind (lamp halos, glowing particles, etc). While the current weighted-average mode works fine for most alpha-surfaces in SL, it simply does not make for realistic light effects. I believe this has been brought up before, so I'm certain I'm not the only one who would be extremely grateful for this feature.

I think ive posted the same thing before.. If your idea is the same as mine, then the fact the SL does'nt z sort transparent objects would'nt matter for additive.. Ive tried to make additive particles in my own 3d OpenGL engine I was making, never did get it working right, but then again im no OpenGL expert  -- I hope its even possible

Well, they are wroking on a whole new graphics engine for one of the next two major version releases. I imagine that alpha sorting has GOT to be on the list. Maybe other layering and blending options are also on the table. Here's hoping!
