The real intent of the recent changes was to limit the number of events to 3 per parcel, and 3 per person. Almost ALL of the problems people are having with this change don't come from that, but from the fact that you can no longer host events on land you don't own, which was done so that random people couldn't use up your 3 events on that land parcel.
However, that means those without land in particular or those that host events for others, can't do so without being part of a land group, and land owners don't necessarily want to allow event hosts into a land ownership group.
BUT, I have a VERY simple solution:
My idea is to eliminate the land ownership limitation altogether, and instead implement a permissions system for event posting. First off, if you attempt to post an event on land you don't own, a notification window will be sent to the land owner (or everyone in the group that holds the deed) with all the event information and an option to accept or decline the event. The event will not be posted until the owner accepts. In the case of the land owner group situation, only one person needs to accept. The user interface for pending event proposals on your land should be similar to the group proposal UI. In a tab in the Land Info window there will be a list of events that people have proposed on your land (which will automatically expire after the event start time). Like the group proposal, a blue notification window will pop up for the owner when an event is proposed, which will "View Now" and "View Later" buttons. The view now button will open the land info window to the event proposal tab and highlight the event in question, and the owner can accept or decline the event proposal from there.
In addition to that, there should be a separate list from the access list on land that allows everyone on that list to post events without confirmation.
