Feature vote URL: http://secondlife.com/vote/index.php?get_id=633I would like to propose to add the ability to allow for animated textures on particles. The idea is to allow particles to have texture animation capabilities in the same way prims texture surfaces do today. This will allow the creation some really spiffy particle art and effects. Example particle animation flags: PSYS_PART_ANIMATE, PSYS_PART_FRAMES_S, PSYS_PART_FRAMES_T, PSYS_PART_RATE_MIN, PSYS_PART_RATE_MAX, PSYS_PART_ANIMATE_START_FRAME_RAND Note: START_FRAME_RAND - will cause the particle to choose a random frame as its starting point, which will allow for each particle emitted to look abit different from its counterpart - even though they both use the same texture source for the animation.

Excellent! This has crossed my mind in the past as well. You've got my vote. Those of you interested in seeing this feature added may also wish to check out my proposal for improved light/glow effects, which also relates to particle capabilities.

Animated textures, or the use of UVs in textures would be nice. I like the idea just for the idea of picking a random UV for textures meaning you could have isntead of animated, just different looking particles picked fromthe same texture. Which is, a happy feature in Unreal. I use for fire effects.

I've wanted to have multiple textures on a single particle generator, all the textures having the same rules otherwise, and each particle would be pick a texture at random...
But this would work to do the same thing...
You'd just pick a START_FRAME_RAND, and set the MIN frame rate to the particle life.
Don't forget PSYS_PART_ANIMATE_SMOOTH...

I endorse this product and/or service
Currently I use a particle script that cycles though textures for the next particle to use. But yeah, this would be easier.

I can't remember what I was thinking of making that I would have wanted this for, but it could surely be useful for many others as well.
