Outfit idea

okay, I have to say that the ability to creat an outfit and then later just drag a folder onto your avitar and boom, everything being there, is an awesome thing to have, but there is maybe something that myself and a few others i have talked to think should belong there. you have items such as weapons, genitals, collars, HUD's, which are no copy, but are used in several of your outfits. and you cant just use the click folder and drag technique there, you have to go through each item and one by one, re-attach them.... perhaps what could be a good idea, is to add an option to attached objects, that they will not detach when a folder is dragged onto the avatar. or perhaps a primary sort of outfit that holds those items and overrides the others, just a thought.

There has already been discussions and proposals about adding 'soft copies' for objects and clothing in your inventory so that you can have one 'real copy' of the item.. but put an alias/shortcut/softlink of the item in the folders that when drug to your AV will resolve the link and make you actually equip the original. Effectively allowing for mutliple copies in a manner that only provided convienence without really giving you the ability to make duplicates.

I had thought about that idea, but the issue I found with it as, going through your whole inventory and deleiting all the shortcuts for an item if you transferred or deleted it

Theorhetically there would be an internal flag set on any object that you've created shortcuts for. So anytime you give away the only copy of a soft linked item the server would know to remove all the softlinks themselves at same time. There would be no explicite cleanup required by the player.

Someone also suggested an alternate type of drop-folder action using, say, click-drop - that would ADD the items to what you have on. I thought that was a good idea.
