Localized Streaming Music?

Very strange ...

Some music streams are equally loud in all parts of my land, and some music streams are localized at the point I am standing when I reset the URL! So if I take a couple steps forward, suddenly the music is quiet, and if I step away further it fades out altogether. If I step back to where I was, it fades back in. All this while, I'd never stepped off my land. Why is this?

IMO it should either ALWAYS be in all parts of the land, or else there should be some way to specify whether the stream is localized.

Right now, monaural streams originate from the point where you were standing when you set the stream URL. Stereo streams are constant throughout the parcel.

More techinicly its the point at which your camera is at when you enter the parcel, and you could have your avatar stand anywhere, but just move your camera back to the same position and it'll be the same.

But yeah. :P

It's not actually a LL bug per-say. More a difference of the way fmod reacts to stereo/mono audio.

fmod does 3D positioning only on mono audio streams. If the sound has more than 1 channel (eg stereo/5.1/etc) then fmod doesnt do 3D positioning, or it renders as a mono stream then does positioning.
