I'm honestly puzzled about why this isn't already a feature, but I could say that about a lot of things. Like, for instance, basic text editing functionality in script editors (is find/replace too much to ask for version 1.6 of a product?)
But back to the point. The SecondLife viewer needs a Landmark menu added to the top, that shows a dropdown of all the landmarks in your Landmarks inventory folder. Ideally, you'd select a landmark from this menu and teleport would be initiated automatically. It'd be so mind bogglingly useful.
And while we're on the subject of teleport, when are telehubs going away? As I understand it, Linden Labs is angling for SecondLife to be the next revolutionary 'internet.' So why do you we always have to go through Yahoo! to get to where we want to go? Does anybody even care about telehubs anymore? Did they ever? I know I've never stopped at one in my 7 months here. I go up and away as fast as I can. But that's all been said before.
Landmark menu plus point-to-point teleporting would make SecondLife nearly orgasmic.
And since I'm writing a post anyway, some additional feature requests include:
1) It'd sure be nice if the sim status 'window' (ctrl+shift+1) was an actual window like nearly everything else. Being stuck in the top right corner makes it highly inconvenient.
2) Can the SL client PLEASE remember that I have to open the camera controls dialog EVERY time I open SL? It remembers the mini-map, why not other integral interface panels? It'd be swell.

I'm also a fan of this. It just seems so simple and effective. Karsten, looks like we share some usability thoughtlines.

Actually, I'd be keen on being able to sort landmarks into folders, for better organisation. Personal homes fave places Shopping gadgets vehicles shoes watermelony things Pathfinders Picks (assorted dates)
That said, it would be nice to be able to put a stalker mark down for friends, so I can stalk doug more easily. Essentially, a pseudo-landmark for friends (maybe using their calling card).

Haha... what would be ultimate, then, is combining these two under an umbrella—we could still have a Landmarks folder with subfolders for better organization, and have it mirrored as a "Favorites"-style Landmarks menu next to Tools. This would make it more accessible to those who are familiar with web browsers (and I mean, c'mon, who isn't?) and still retain the old Inventory functionality... only... BETTER! (It works quite nicely for Firefox...)

I would love to have point to point teleporting. It's so frustrating to me to want to go somewhere only to wind up at a telehub so far away and then have to navigate past partially rezed buildings and such to try to find where I want to be.
As an add on suggestion, I'd like it if when you do a search for a place, in addition to there being a button with the option to teleport there, it'd be great if there was an option to save the landmark in your inventory for later.
As for landmarks for friends, I think you can do that from the main map already.

Believe it or not, this was a feature before 1.6.x. Not sure why it was taken out, it completely ruined "landmark chaining" for me. "Add landmark" button, I miss you!

Perhaps this is a perfect role for the defunct clothing button in 1.7, which was probably too complex for its need with objects been needed too, but landmark sorting into folders, bring back add landmark to the find > classifieds, pop places, and places menus and make the whole experience a whole lot better, not just a lonnnnnnnnnng list in the map.
