Okay, hear me out everyone Yes, it may be a pointless isea, but who's to know; it may solve a of problems within SL. Just today I was flying around the deserted sims of Griganno and Sistiana etc. I noticed what great things this city area has to offer - shops, services, art! Perhaps living in the UK has my oppinions on this place a little distorted but these once wonderful worlds with thriving shops are the next best thing to a massive cult of rezzed ghost prims! The only people who seem to visit here are noobs, noticing the strange layout of thwe land from the world map, who could help feeling curiouse. We all have that little box on our profile saying 'Resident' and the only other name in there is 'Linden Lab Employee'. The Proposal: ==== Intoduce a new payment method and city sims - introduce a few new sims complete with a proper road layout leading to each and every plot. (think about it... if we all built right to the edge of our plot, how would we get into the buildings? other that throught the roof, which isnt very glam is it now?) - the new payment method could be a similar monthly price to that of a resident account only the title on the persons profile would be 'shop owner'. Only people who have had a residents account can change to this new type of account and would have to be Okayed by LL. this new shop keeper type account could then remove the rights to 512m in normal sims, but allow them a 512m plot in the new city sims which must only be used for selling things etc. If the plan worked, the new city sims could become the new hub of SL where people can come shop and discover new shops etc... this type of thing could be done for club owners or people who provide services and allow those accounts to have their own status. well thats just a suggestion lol it could solve a lot of problems with land prices etc, but it could also have the total opposite effect on normal land.

Not all of us have 512m2 free... And what of those of us who already have thousands of square meters in other sims? Do we lose our free portion? Find me 18000m2 in a city sim, and without my having to pay more than I make from selling what I have, and I might consider it... (and no, the double prims bonus doesn't make the land worth 2ce as much, at least not to me).
Or what ot those who own their own sims? Would you penalise them too?

surely if you pay monthly u have a 512m plot free? but if the type of subscription was set up so that a person could change to it at free will...
the idea has stemed from a person who is not really happy with having to pay a truck load of money each month just to get extra prims to try get some money on SL.
Sl is pretty one sided atm, from what i can see... people who are willing to fork out pricey monthly bills get the land they pay for whilst others are left to simple 512 dwells on the top of a mountain or middle of the water... it is possible to pay your 10,000L$ a month instead of an extra 5$... but is that really possible to make on just 1024m of land?

Didn't mean that... There are members who have more than 512 free...
OK, now, I have a quarter sim... I have on part of that, a store, well, more a mall now...
It's way too big to fit on less than 4096m2 of land... If to still get my free allocation, I had to move to a city sim, I'd want to be granted an exchange of enough other city land to create astore of at least the same size...

We have enough shops in SL as it is. Every other plot of land is housing a mall or a shopping district or a store.
Everyone's trying to sell to everyone else.
We don't need more.

Lordfly Digeridoo thats exactly my point... grouping the shops all together, making it easier to find what you're looking for. ok, yes you all think its a bad idea from the sounds of it so i guess we better leave this post to die. *dresses up in blak and starts to cry*

So your proposal is that all the shops should be on one "zone" and all the... other stuff... should be in another? How would you draw the line?

How do you define a "shop"? My build in Davenport is primarily a garden/forest, but I've also got copies of some of my vehicles for sale there.
