Audio stream buffer slider!

Today, my streaming audio keeps dying. It'd be nice if I was able to increase the stream's buffer size so that high traffic wouldn't do that.

Just a slider in Preferences. It's not too big a request, is it? :)

Even an increased buffer would result in hiccups when listening to HTTP streams, unless you're downloading smaller flat files like very small MP3 files where the stream is terminated before the buffer fills up.

The only difference with an increased buffer, in the case of HTTP streams (as opposed to Windows Media or RealMedia streams, which automatically degrade according to performance), is that the hiccups would be further apart and the silence during each hiccup would last longer.

On the other hand, if the HTTP server itself is hiccuping, there lies your problem and a buffer is justified. I, however, tried HTTP-streaming a large MP3 file from my own web server (on the LAN, directly connected to the same DSL router as my workstation) and it still hiccupped horribly, so that is not the problem, as I can normally download the entire 4.5MB MP3 within, say, three seconds.

I do believe that perhaps the general bandwidth slider might be an app-level QoS limiter. Try increasing that.
