I asked in Live Help how to eliminate the tooltips that occur when the mouse cursor lingers over buttons like IM, chat, Friends, Fly/Stop Flying, etc.

The liaison on duty didn't know a way; there isn't an option for this that I can see in the interface. They sounded like they would also like to stop seeing them.

Since Kelly told me where the xml interface files have been moved to, I was able to find a way to eliminate them.

Using a text editor, edit the file panel_toolbar.xml in C:\Program Files\SecondLife\skins\en-us and remove the lines that say stuff like "tooltip="The fly button makes you fly.""

The path would need to be adjusted for the appropriate folder for the secondlife.exe file.

That should be done while not running SL, and it seems to have done the trick.

I don't recall the name of the liaison who seemed to also want to get rid of them, so please pass this on and maybe it will reach the right person.

Actually I do remember the liaison's last name, it was Linden.
