Well, this is not really a feature suggestion, but more of a question;
Why does SL use a C-based scripting language instead of, for example, a modified version of Lua. Anyway, Lua is very popular in game development.

Answer: SL isn't using a C-based scripting language.
LSL is superficially similar to C, but then so are Javascript, Perl, and (ahem) Lua. |

They had to settle for *some* language style, so of course they couldn't respect everybody's wishes. If they get mono done sometime, this will be no issue anymore, as you could write your code in any language that supports the mono backend.

Aww, that would be a bummer. I'd love to be able to write scripts in perl. I need to read up on Babbage's info again to check

Perl?

If you're going to test scripts in Perl, please do it in a locked down sim with no neighbors, so when the tentacles come from under llGround() and haul you screaming to hell you don't take the rest of us with you.

PHP
PERL HTML Python C C++ QBasic Lua Ruby AppleScript mIRC Script Frontier ActionScript Visual Basic GameMonkey Script (home made language) Pluvo ...............and so on The problem with most languages, they were designed for one thing or their own program. Most programs that run on their own language was made with C/C++ or APL. It's like trying to get LSL into another non-related language if you're trying to get Perl into LSL. Actually... it's like saying Avatar{ pick: "ball" } is telling an avatar to pick up a ball, but... Avatar{ Set_Code: "main.html" (Change: "Background Color" #000000 ) } that is like telling your avatar to change something that doesn't exist in SL to black? wtf? _____________________
