Chest Spandex slider for female avatars

So I've been watching a few proposals in the voting area for a while, and they seem to not have gotten very many votes, or much attention, either. So as a service to the proposal starters, and because it seems like forum thread == more recognition, I bring you the following proposal, for a chest spandex for female avatars. While having, say, a bikini plastered to your curves is a good thing, having the message on your T-shirt be distorted by two bumps is less so.

Quoth the original proposer: "I propose a slider to modify the chest area for female avatars to fill up the void that appears in clothing. This would allow for smoother textures without caving in in the middle."

Seeing as how the link no longer works properly, now that LL has updates the proposal voting page to be more in-theme with the rest of the site, you may have to search for the proposal by number, #1373

Very useful idea to add to the clothing sliders.

How about getting rid of the "mystery gouge"
07-11-2006 06:43
While fixing the SL body model, how about fixing the "mystery gouge" below the throat in both male and female avatars (though it's more obvious in females). Right now it looks like someone at LL thinks the breast is a sack dangling from the neck like a rolled beach-towel.

Agreed. But I think this is a suitable stopgap measure until they decide to allow us to import our own models directly from, say, Poser, or 3dsMax. I'd heard that animations were already done in Poser, because "the skeleton names match up exactly", or somesuch. Why not just allow us to do our fiddling around in an environment that, well, *I* am more comfortable with, before uploading the results? But I digress. Hopefully the functionality you mention will come when SL progresses to Havok 2.

Great idea. It's SO annoying to get a cool tshirt only to find it's effectively unwearable because its either no-mod (so I can't make it looser) or an undershirt.

Don't get me started...

Don't get me started on no-mod clothes.

That has to be the stupidest idea ever. "Modding" clothes isn't like modding almost anything else, because it's whether the *texture* is available that makes it possible to really mod the clothes or not... it's not "modifying" them, it's just adjusting them to actually fit your character. A lot of people seem to make clothes no-mod because they think it prevents texture theft, but if it ever made a difference there it sure doesn't now and it means you can't make *any* adjustments, even to adjust the looseness so it matches the rest of your outfit.

All i want is LL to make the skeleton symetric; all they need do is spend 5 min, open the skeleton XML file in a text editor and make the left and right side values match up properly.

Certainly gets a vote from this clothing designer! I hate the fact that SL Avatars don't have a 'chest spandex' factor like the POSER and DAZ Studio figures have. How hard can that be to implement, really? Most clothes on a woman's chest should NOT look like they entered a wet t-shirt contest! A woman's shirt does not vaccuum-fit to her chest!

As for importing Poser type avatar figures, that would rock, but is likely to be impossible until the Ineternet itself gets at least a 10x improvement in bandwidth. The current Poser figures have at least 10x the number of polygons as SL's avatars use. So even if you could import Jesse from Poser 6, or Victoria from DAZ Studio, trying to render a figure with that many polygons would bring SL to it's knees in a heartbeat.

Aiko is my model of choice, actually. But I was thinking more along the lines of using a SL-specific model, and fussing with the sliders and whatnot in there, as opposed to in SL's interface.

Hear-hear! I'll bump the idea of a chest-dip slider. It'd be nice to actually be able to read what's on my shirts when I wear them. :/

As this is not my proposal that I'm supporting, I can safely bump this post with impunity!

Hello again, everyone. Now that college is on break for the week of Thanksgiving, I can finally direct my attention towards stumping for the proposal on the chest-spandex slider.

Again, this is not my proposal, I just thought I'd help direct some extra attention towards a proposal I found on the feature voting boards.

Update since my last time 'round:

*I drummed up notecards and went door-to-door to businesses that cater to female clients, gave the owners my schpiel, handed them a notecard, and asked them to please help spread the word. I figured if I could get big names like Nite&Day, PixelDolls, Cryogen Labs, and the like on the ticket, it'd help push things along. Boy, was I wrong.

*I'm in the process of building some stands of some sort that spit a notecard when touched. I'll probably go back and make more rounds, asking if they can set the stand up somewhere in their businesses. Maybe this time, I'll wear a shirt that comes up to my neck, just to highlight how bad the problem can be.

If you have a female AV, or know someone who does, help by sending this feature proposal their way! Also, make sure that you re-use your votes from proposals that have already passed, and move them to new ones! (They're recyclable that way!)

And while you're at it, add a "buttcrack filler" slider alongside this "boobgap filler".

Why does everyone look like they're walking around with a severe wedgie, even when wearing just causual pants and so forth?

I think it's an artifact of the way the avatar mesh was designed.
