I just tested it. When another person ends a friendship agreement with you, it automatically removes that persons card from your inventory and cancels the agreement, with no notification to you.
I think this is bad.
I understand there is the privacy aspect, in that these people presumably don't want further contact. But on the other hand, especially for people like me who rely on computers to remember be we are so absent-minded, and, let's face it, stupid, it's extremely frustrating.
It leaves us wondering whether we did actually add that person to our friends list or not, or whether that person has ended the agreement, or even whether its a database malfunction. As it is, the exact reason is uncertain, and there isn't really a way to ask them that isn't socially awkward.
The privacy issue can be dealt with by the usual SL avenues against griefing, if someone really gets upset over being dropped from a friends list. I'd propose an 'enemies' list too, which could help get around some of those issues (the exact function of such a list is a different topic).
But for those idiots like me, knowing why a person is not on your list wghen you thought they should be is a definite bonus.

I am against that. If I want to ban someone from my friend list, I don't want that one to be noticed of it and come back against me. If I want to disappear from someone's friend list, I want it to be quite and unnoticeable -- as it is now. It is already the way things should be. You won't be noticed if someone remove you from contact list in MSN too.

Also against this. Strongly so. Keep it the way it is.

The drama that would arise as a result of such a change would be a far greater evil than frustration at not being sure if one added someone as a friend. If it bothers you, keep a list in another format.
It's probably also a good idea for whatever server deals with friends online notification etc. If the system were changed to have a notification I'm quite certain people would be socially disinclined to periodically clean up their friends list, and so we would have lots more (unwanted) friend connections than we do at present.

No thanks. For all the reasons stated by the last few posters.

I didn't know it turfed the calling card - and on the other end too!
That's annoying. I've got a bunch of people on my friends list that I added because I didn't know about calling cards. I was about to "un-friend" them and just hold the cards.
Grrrr...
These should be separate functions *and* 'calling card' should be in the main menu with 'friend' hidden behind 'more'. That would prevent so much dhrama.

ok, at least let us keep a list of calling cards alongside friends. It's frustrating not to be able to find someoen in a list that you thought was there. If anything, the present makes one think about that person more, and wonder.

Hm...maybe when click remove it asked you for banning? like MSN. If ban then nothing is notify and that one will never see your status Online anywhere, even in profile window. And they'll also get "This Person is not online" message when trying to send IM.

im against it too. I kick several people off my friends list every week cuz of varius reasons. I like to keep my list clean and neat. it would stir up a lot of drama that way. i remember back before we had a friends list and we had to depend on calling cards. When it was canceled it would say (Canceled) on the cards name. I was so happy when that got killed out. People used to contact me all like "WHY WHAT DID I DO??? ;.;"
