Abyss rendering abysmal

1.7 brought an ugly change to what would be called the abyss. Before 1.7 the underwater voids were dark and could easily pass for large expanses of underwater void but after the update the underwater world looks like utter crap. Turning on fog maked no difference. The pictures speak for themselves. Please fix this...

I've noticed that too, I bugreported it in Preview 1.7. I think it has to do with the next region over being loaded, but I'm not sure. I recall that I saw this crack of light peeking through, and it annoyed me immensely, so I flew forwards (in effect loading the adjacent simulator), backwards, and it looked better.

In this instance, there is no ajacent sim. This is the emptiness around a private sim although it does this on the mainland too.

I figure it is more likely to be seen and acted upon in the forums rather than a bug report as they are more of a statistical tool rather than any sort of techsupport.

Sure, we just did that! I just did both. :)

(Maybe some posters are needed for this too...)

I've seen that many things underwater with alpha in the textures, when viewed from above the water, look like they're rendered above the water. It makes a mockery of many underwater grotto scenes which is a shame. This was the case in 1.6 too as I recall.
