middle mouse = rotate view

i do not like having to left click on my avatar or holding alt and selecting the correct object to rotate around. i would like a way to rotate the current view using the middle mouse button clicked anywhere on the screen.

also shift + middle mouse can pan the view.

Oooh, with certain types of mice with customizable drivers (including popular ones by Logitech and Microsoft), you can assign the middle mouse button to a key combination and have it do just this!
